Brighten up your summer with a whiter smile!

Our office offers two great ways to whiten your smile, either with whitening trays or Zoom! Whitening. Whitening trays are made by taking custom impressions of the teeth. This makes it possible to make trays that fit perfect around an individuals upper and lower teeth. Trays should be worn everyday for 30-45 minutes for the first 2 weeks. After desired results are met use trays as needed. Zoom! is our in-office whitening procedure that uses a uv light. This appointment takes about 90 minutes. It consists of taking impressions for custom take home trays, and three 15 minute sessions with the uv light. Patients are able to see instant results with Zoom!  For more information about whitening give us a call at 817-737-6601.

Check out this website about Zoom!

The latest in flossing technology!

As dental professionals we see many patients that do not like to use typical string floss for many reasons. Maybe it takes too much time, their hands are too big, or they may have health problems that make it very uncomfortable for them. Philips Sonicare has come out with the AirFloss. The AirFloss is designed to help disrupt plaque that is in between the teeth that a toothbrush can not reach. It is not designed to take the place of string floss but for those of you out there that feel like flossing is just too difficult, you should take advantage of this new product. Our entire office uses the air floss along with string floss and we love it! To find out more information on the awesome product check out this website Philips AirFLoss .

Sensitive Teeth

A very common problem people deal with is sensitive teeth. A few of the things that can cause tooth sensitivity are cavities/decay, cracked teeth and root exposure. There are many things that can be done to help reduce the sensitivity you have. The most economical thing to try first is a desensitising toothpaste. You can find these at your local grocery store or pharmacy. Our office really likes Sensodyne or Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief. When using a sensitivity toothpaste know that one use will not reduce the sensitivity. You will need to use it for at least 2 weeks religiously. If you find you are still not having any relief call your dentist. There are different ways your dentist can treat sensitivity whether it is with a fluoride varnish, desensitizing agent or a simple filling. The American Dental Association has a great article titled Sensitive Teeth that we would love for our readers to check out!

We found this image on the Sensodyne website.

Oral Systemic Link

In our first blog post we mentioned the oral/systemic link. More and more research is being done about the relationship between oral health and systemic diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Our office found this article featured by The American Dental Association Healthy mouth, healthy body very interesting and close to home. It is a great overview of the link and lets you know how important taking care of your teeth really is! We think everyone should be aware and knowledgeable about this. If you feel you are showing any of the signs and symptoms listed in the article do not hesitate to call and make an appointment. We are here and ready to help you get back on track with a healhy smile and lifestyle.

We found this picture from dentistrytoday.com, and thought it was great for this post!
